Understanding your numbers

How Xolt calculates profit

Net sales, the four margins (CM1, CM2, CM3, net) and profit per unit, defined.

Net sales

Product sales minus refunds, minus promotion rebates, plus shipping the buyer paid. Tax lines are stored but never counted as sales or margin.

CM1: product margin

Net sales minus landed product cost (unit cost, inbound freight and other per-unit costs), Amazon referral and closing fees, and FBA fulfilment fees. It answers whether the product is worth selling at all.

CM2: after advertising

CM1 minus ad spend. Ad data arrives with the Amazon Ads connection, which follows after launch; until then CM2 equals CM1.

CM3: contribution

CM2 minus storage fees and other Amazon fees (inbound placement, returns processing, removals), plus reimbursements. This is what each product really contributes, and the number the Overview leads with.

Net profit

CM3 of all products minus the workspace's fixed costs for the month. Margins as a percentage are each margin divided by net sales, and profit per unit is CM3 divided by units shipped.

Why totals only include products with a cost

Adding a product with no cost as if it cost nothing would overstate profit. Workspace margins sum only SKUs that have a cost, and the page tells you how many are left out.
